Action for Advocacy
Action for Advocacy (A4A) is a resource and support agency for independent advocacy schemes, 'advocating for advocacy' at a strategic level by supporting the development of independent advocacy schemes and promoting good practice and information sharing across the advocacy sector.


Asian Women's Breast Cancer Group
The Asian Women's Breast Cancer Group provides telephone support, as well as face to face visits and care.


Association of Public Health Observatories - HIA Gateway
The Association of Public Health Observatories (APHO) produces information, data and intelligence on people's health and health care for practitioners, policy makers and the wider community. The HIA Gateway provides access to Health Impact Assessments.


Black Association of Women Step Out (BAWSO)
A voluntary organisation that provides holistic services to Black and Minority Ethnic women and children who are suffering abuse or are made homeless through a threat of domestic abuse in Wales. They also have a telephone helpline available on 02920 437390.


Black Mental Health UK
Black Mental Health UK (BMH UK) was established in 2006 to raise awareness and address the stigma associated with mental illness. They aim to reduce in the inequalities in the treatment and care of people from African Caribbean communities who use mental health services, and to inform these communities on how to influence the strategic development, policy design and implementation of services.


BME Training For All - ARC
This site from the Association for Real Change (ARC) provides a series of protocols to support for people working in third sector BME organisations. The project aims to encourage commissioners, training providers, qualification developers and awarding bodies to review their practice and ensure that training can be accessed by people from a range of ethnic backgrounds.


British Institute for Human Rights (BIHR) - guides
The BIHR site provides access to a number of resources for the promotion of human rights, including a selection of guides for refugees and asylum seekers, older people and disabled people amongst others.


Cancer Research UK- ethnicity
A collection of news stories and links relating to cancer prevalence amongst different ethnic groups.  The site also provides access to a small collection of translated leaflets which provide information on cancer.


Care Quality Commission
The Care Quality Commission is the new health and social care regulator for England. Its aim is to look at the joined up picture of health and social care, and ensure better care for everyone in hospital, in a care home and at home.


Chinese Information and Advice Centre (CIAC)
A UK charity offering free legal advice and support to disadvantaged Chinese people living in the UK. Their Women’s Support Project helps women who are experiencing family or marital difficulties and provides access to services including housing and legal help. They also have a telephone helpline available on 08453 131868.


Citizen's Advice Bureau
The Citizen's Advice Bureau website provides guidance and factsheets on aspects of the health system, including some resources translated into community languages.


Colour of Health
The Colour of Health aims to provide health information and lifestyle tips primarily for women from a diverse range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds, religious beliefs and traditions living in the UK.


Colourmind
Colour Mind is the website of the Mental Health Race Equality Team for Central Lancashire.The site gives access to back issues of 'Barbershop' an award-winning magazine about mental health in BME communities.


Contact a Family
Contact a Family is a national organisation representing disabled children and their families. It provides advice, information and support to the parents of all disabled children, including publications in a number of different community languages, and interpreted service for its helpline.  


D H Care Networks
The D H Care Networks site provides access to a range of resources relating to health and social care.


data.gov.uk
A major new website which gives free access to government data in one place. The site contains more than 2500 sets of data from across government.  All of the data is non-personal and in a format that can be reused by any individual or business to create innovative new software tools, such as applications about house prices, local amenities and services, or access to local hospitals.


Department of Communities and Local Government- Race Research and Statistics
The Communities and Local Government- Race Research and Statistics website provides access to a number of reports relating to race issues, including some touching on ethnicity and health provision.


Department of Health - Translated documents
This page provides access to a number of DH publications and resources that have been translated into community languages.


Diabetes UK
Diabetes UK produce a number of resources in community languages which provide best practice guidance on managing diabetes. They also produce a number of targetted resources including 'Don’t’ leave it too late', an audio resource for Gypsy-Travellers designed to raise awareness of the seriousness of diabetes.


Do it right
A site produced in partnership between the NHS, the African HIV Policy Network and NAHIP to encourage safe sexual practices and raise awareness of HIV and AIDS amongst African communities in the UK.


Equality and Human Rights Commission - Research reports
The Equality and Human Rights Commision site gives access to a large number of highliy useful reports dealing with all aspects of equality and human rights.


Equip
EQUIP has links to information-rich websites with resources in languages other than English and a list of support groups and services related to other languages or for people from ethnic minorities.


Evaluation Support Scotland
This site provides access to evaluation tools and expertise, to enable voluntary organisations to embed evaluation within funding and policy-making structures


Family Fund, The
The Family Fund provides grants to families caring for a severely disabled child in the UK.


Forced Migration Online
This site provides access to a large number of free resources and briefings dealing with the situation of refugees and forced migrants.


Free Books 4 Doctors
This site provides access to a number of free medical textbooks.


Free Medical Journals
This site provides access to a number of free medical journals, as well as links to large number which become free after a limited paid for subscription period.
