A new study from from Cancer Research UK has shown that cervical cancer rates are rising amongst younger women, leading to calls to target women in their twenties in screening uptake campaigns and to encourage more 12-13 year olds to undertake the HPV vaccine.  Introduced on a voluntary basis in 2008, there is some evidence that awareness and uptake of the HPV vaccine (external website) may be lower amongst minority ethnic groups, reflecting lower rates of cervical screening amongst some communities.
